Sometimes it feels like at every turn Life or Murphy is lurking about the corner just waiting to screw you. More often than not, it leaves one feeling cold and shaken after beating life or even Murphy (though the score with Murphy is so lopsided in Murphy's favor, it's not even fun anymore) and more often than not resulting in one being jaded.

But for every boy, there are defining moments in life which leave scars that are permanent, a mark of growing up. Some are...

1. Realizing dad isn't superman- I suppose it was going to be inevitable...

2. Competing in competitive sport for the first time- There still isn't an equivalent adrenaline rush just yet. When the heart rate shoots sky high and all you're focused on is getting the next point.

3. Finishing the first "grown up" book, y'know those thick ones with small words- I can't remember the title, but it sort of on the lines of "The Godfather"

4. Hosting a dinner party for the first time- 8 people, Cod and a lot of knife and skillet work

5. When she finally holds your hand- and the rest of the process entails... never stops being a thrill

6. First ever pay check- Spent it on the suit and that was it!

7. First drive alone- Stole the family car, I did return it a day later

8. Acknowledged for the first time being a grown up- Still hasn't happened

9. The first "Good Job"- Warm fuzzy feeling, simple pride knowing that I've actually done something right

10. Heartache, heart break and the inevitable break up- Baby, it hurts so good

11. Standing up for one's self- Telling the douche bag that he should take his opinion and stuff it in his giant sized < insert preferred orifice here, I didn't use a male item here >

12. Hitting the first sweet spot- It's all about the sound and "look at that go"

13. Traveling on a plane alone for the first time- It had to be a bloody 13 hour non- stop to London

14. Not crying at a funeral

15. First big purchase- still pending

16. Getting tested- I'll leave this to your imagination
