Listening to: If I had it all, Dave Matthews Band
Thinking of:
Explanation: I just borrowed Everday, Dave Matthews Band from a friend. Hence the Dave Matthews-isms lately
After delaying it for ages, Italy! In a nutshell...
Venice: Stayed at a campsite outside of Venice and bussed in everyday. It is pretty and unique but somehow to me, it wasn't IT. Somehow the hype is greater than the place. Shops and some food places are expensive but strangely enough... We had the cheapest ice cream there. Though it was only a single scoop as compared to the rest. I loved the little streets though it made navigating through Venice harder. Had loads of pastries and sliced pizzas as well as black spaghetti with squid. Misadventure, somehow one of our cameras dropped into the canal, only to be saved by a total stranger who disappeared before we can thank him. Whoever you are Stranger Boy, Cheers!
Florence: Loved this place, the outdoor piazzas with statues. Sitting on steps that are centuries old, the same place scholars and artists sat and conversed. It felt special. Food once again was expensive... However, to save money... we popped by little takeouts and bought food from there and had little picnics in the gardens. Stayed in a youth hostel and all I remember from there is the fact that there were too many bloody mozzies. Thank goodness for the 2 Aussie guys who dared to sleep solely in their boxers... Somehow the mosquitos stopped bugging me after that. :D The sights, sounds, smells and the whole expirience Florence offered was awe inspiring. Though we were in an unfortunate position when most of the museums were closed... I have to say that one still enjoyed Florence. Gelatarias galore! The Duomo was gorgeous, when the city is all stone and concrete (which btw, is still nice though) the Duomo's exterior was green, pink and white... Quite distinct as compared to the rest of the city. It was massive and most beautiful. Its my favourite building along with the Mezqita in Cordoba, Spain.
Chianti Region bike ride: Scenes, sights and sounds... wine, good food, olive oil. Pretty much explains it all. Oh, and meeting more new people... and 25km of uphill and downhill biking.
Pisa: Leaning Tower
